The Impact on Student Learning (ISL) assignment gives the teacher candidate the opportunity to:
- Determine the impact of instruction on all students’ learning,
- Use assessments to make research-based informed decisions about instruction,
- Analyze and communicate students’ performance results, and
- Reflect on teaching performance.
The ISL indicators are incorporated into seven domains:
- Contextual Factors
- Learning Goals and Objectives for Unit and/or Group Lessons
- Assessment
- Instructional Design
- Instructional Decision-Making
- Analysis of Student Learning
- Reflection
The ISL consists of 24 indicators with individualized rubrics for each indicator. Each rubric includes the following four levels:
- Exceeds Standard (3 points)
- Meets Standard (2 points)
- Needs Improvement (1 point)
- Unacceptable (0 points)
Each item on the ISL will be assessed and scored using the rubric for that item.
